Serena had a lovely Mother's Day, including an uninterrupted hour in a cafe, and a family devonshire tea by the river. Very nice. And for once, everyone's healthy. Long may it last!
Owen Rhys Hildenbrand
Born September 4th, 2004 at 4.50pm @ Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston
8 lbs 14 oz, 21 inches long, 1 week late.
Owen is the Welsh version of John (meaning "loved by God"),
and also means "born to nobility" (ha!) and "young warrior". (Hildenbrand also happens to mean knight or warrior). Rhys is also Welsh, meaning "a stream", and the letters RHYS are Serena's father's initials.
Georgia Margaret Hildenbrand
Born March 27th, 2007 at 3.56am @ Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge
7lbs 10oz, 19.75 inches long, 2 weeks early.
Georgia means "farmer" in Latin and also refers to St George of England. But really, it's just the name we felt God was giving us. We chose Margaret in honor of both Marc’s paternal grandmother, Margaret Hildenbrand, and Serena’s great aunt Margie Stevenson. Both of these Margarets are in their 80s – they have been very significant in our lives, and are the last surviving members of their generations in our families.
Luke Joseph Hildenbrand
Born March 19th, 2011 at 7:20pm @ Cabrini Hospital, Malvern
8lbs 7oz, 20 inches long, 1 day early.
Luke means “bringer of light”, and of course Luke was one of the four gospel writers. Joseph means “may God add or increase”, which is certainly the case with Luke joining our (now) large family. Joseph is a family name on the Hildenbrand side (the middle name of Marc’s dad and grandfather), and we also wanted to honour Serena’s maternal grandfather, Joe Farran.
